Charles Grant was born in Mount Vernon, in Mobile County, Alabama. His first musical inspiration came from The Gospel Soul feeling. Throughout the early years of his life he was inspired by some of the Blues Greats, such as Johnny (Mobile) Williams of the Drifters, Wilson Pickett, Bobby (Blue) Bland and The Great Little Junior Parker, The (Legendary) Nat King Cole, Fats Domino, Chubby Checker, Sam & Dave, The Righteous Brothers and Many Others.
Charles is a former member of the world famous Platters. He toured around the world with The Platters from 1984 to 1998. Charles was the last performer to replace an original member of the group. The Platters were the leading group of the doo-wop era of pop music in the 50’s and 60’s.
Charles has traveled & performed in many parts of the world such as France, Germany, Canada and such distant countries as Australia, Turkey, China and Japan.
Charles has shared the stage with some of the legendary greats including Fats Domino, two late great legends David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks, The Drifters, The Coasters, Little Anthony (of the Imperials), BB King, Ben E. King, Mary Wilson, (of the Supremes), Percy Sledge, The Temptations, Chubby Checker, Freddie Cannon, the late Bobby (Rocking Robin) Day, David Brinston, T.K. Soul, Willie Clayton, Wendell B., Lil Jimmie, Mel Waiters, Reggie P., Big Cynthia, Floyd Taylor, Anthony Watson (Chi-Lites) and Frank Mendenhall.
Charles is a composer, producer, founder and manager of "The Inner City Blues Band" in Los Angeles for 10 years. For 12 years Charles was a member of "The World Famous Platters" formed by the late great "Paul Robi" until 1996. He has been performing at famous Casino's in Biloxi, Mississippi, Social and many private shows. January 15th, 2005, Charles "Bo" Grant Released his solo CD entitled "Steppin' Out".
November 26, 2007 Charles "Bo" Grant finished his 2nd CD, entitled "Crossroads". Recorded in Memphis, TN. (at Ecko Records). Produced By: The Late Great Morris J. Williams ( R.I.P. )
